Admittedly, we are slacker bloggers. Sure, we finished the Thailand/Laos blog from last November, but we still owe you photos and tales from the latter halves of Guatemala, Chile & Easter Island, and Egypt. The tales are a bit foggy now so you’ll have to settle for pictures. Actually, you’ll have to wait for those, too, as we’re preparing for another trip in just over a week… and you get to guess where we’re going.
Contest rules: Prizes (something fun, we promise) will be awarded to the first person with the correct answer; to the person who gives an incorrect answer but best suggestion for our November trip; and to the person with the most creative answer. The very small handful of you who know the details are ineligible for the grand prize but are encouraged to keep the secret and participate by putting forth red herrings or other fishy guesses. You are encouraged to enter as many times as you’d like. There will be a total of 6 clues posted on the blog, one each day beginning today. Winner(s) will be announced on or about July 4th.
Here’s your first clue. Admittedly, it’s not a big one, but you might get lucky.

I’ve got it! It’s the Venetian in Vegas. It’s skyward of 100 degress, you take a little puddle jumper from SB to there, and it has a river running smack through the hotel. As an added bonus, there’s an Elvis wedding chapel nearby where you can finally make Harriet an honest woman.

Oh wait how about Missoula, Montana, where the Oscar-winning feature film A River Runs Through It brought notoriety to a town in the Pacific Northwest. Today’s high 88 degrees. That seems hot to me.

Clearly not down here in wintery South America or chilly Chile. could it be hot in Nepal in the summer? You two are so buff now that you’re ready for a two-week trek in the Himalayas, maybe even a jaunt up Everest.

Well this was easy. After the President’s announcement, the only place you could be heading would be Kabul, Afghanistan obviously. Now would be the best time to see it before the Taliban takes it over. You can actually get some fairly lightweight used body armor these days and with the draw down in troops, drivers are getting cheap.

Some small Caribbean island…one of those with a really short runway that you have to land between mountains and the runway goes uphill at the end. I’ve seen it on those “extreme runways”/”airports pilots hate” shows.

Nachitoches, Louisiana
The “poor man’s” New Orleans…
Gotta have the deep-fried alligator delights and meat pies at a certain restaurant there according to my Louisiana cousins.

Does this landlocked country begin with a “b” by chance? Could it bee (hehe) Bolivia (but it’s winter there now)? or Bhutan?

Ste. Genevieve Missouri. To visit Tom’s brother Bob and eat his awesome cooking.

Hot, landlocked, river, and small airplanes… I’m not too confident on anything yet, and am looking forward to more clues, but thoughts as of now are: Botswana, Malawi, Uganda, Zambia, Mongolia, or Nepal.
